BC Industry Awards 2008 The annual Business Continuity Awards were held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Thursday 8th May with some 500 attendees from the Risk and Continuity world. Two members of the IOR (Stephen Wells and Michael Faber) were selected as part of the judging panel, with the Institute also sponsoring one of the awards. Michael Faber, Vice Chairman of the IOR represented the Institute in opening the golden envelope and stating the imortal line "and the award goes to...................". The award sponsored by the Institute was for Data Centre Strategy of the Year and was awarded to Sungard Availability Services' London Technology Centre. This event was a good opportunity to further raise the profile of the IOR and to give thought to a potential future award event dedicated to Operational Risk professionals. Annual General Meeting and Institute Dinner 2008 Following on from the success of last year, the AGM and dinner was held on 8th February 2008 at the Little Ship Club in the City of London. There was a supportive turnout of members for the AGM and the main items covered were as follows:
As with last year, the AGM was followed by dinner, for members and guests, which led to a very successful evening. Thanks to all the Institute members who have given so much of their time to the Institute over the last year and to all who attended on the day. The event highlighted the enthusiasm and energy felt within the Institute and the genuine desire to continue in building on the work and achievements to date within the industry.
