Description
Following the success of our October event in Manchester, The England and Wales Chapter of the Institute of Operational Risk(IOR) is pleased to invite you to its upcoming event hosted by RBS. The topical theme of the event is ‘The Three Lines of Defence Model & the SMR’.

A ‘Three Lines of Defence Model’ has been adopted by many organisations, often encouraged by regulatory bodies, to provide clear ownership and accountability for the management of risk, as well as challenge and oversight. Different organisations have interpreted this model in different ways and there are material differences across businesses, raising the question as to whether the ‘Three Lines of Defence Model’ is effective. This comes at a time when third parties, including regulatory bodies and the media, are demanding increased accountability, not least through the Senior Manager’s Regime. This is very topical right now and whilst most HR departments are heavily involved, there are wider organisational links, including to operational risk management and conduct.

This event also provides the opportunity to network with other risk management practitioners, both during and after the event when refreshments will be provided.

We are pleased to be able to announce that our speakers include Phillip Martin, a recognised industry speaker and trainer, and Stuart Thompson and Kathryn Lewis from EY’s. Stuart is the Head of EY’s Advisory practice in Scotland specializing in risk management, regulation and performance improvement. Kathryn is currently leading delivery of SMR in a major UK bank. We are grateful to all of our speakers for making the time to present their thoughts and facilitate discussions, along with RBS for hosting this event.

Please note that the event will be conducted under Chatham House rules for the purposes of confidentiality.
